The escallonia apple blossom can be a wonderful addition to your garden and it can grow to be five feet or larger. You may notice that it looks very well along a fence or building that you want to hide. If you do not prune it, you will notice that it seems to be very wild looking and it can spread all over. However, if you are going to be watering it often, or you are living in an area that gets a lot of rain, you may want to plant it in soil that is well drained. This is going to be better for the plant rather than leaving it in a location that is going to be water logged all of the time. Be sure to add a fertilizer to the plant at least one time a year, early in the spring.
You may want to consider planting it in a rocky location. The flower is generally very resistant of wind. However, the rocks are going to help hold the flower down in windy conditions. The escallonia apple blossom may add a lot of beautiful colors to a rock garden anyways as it changes from pink to white throughout the blooming season. It is going to look very nice along a hillside where rocks may already be in place.
